Shukkhe clicks SSK

Shukhee Seba Kendro (SSK), an initiative of Grameen Healthtech Limited, is transforming healthcare access across Bangladesh. With 5,000 centers already established and another 5,000 in the pipeline, SSK’s hybrid model—combining digital telemedicine, community-based ambassadors, and affordable services—ensures that even in the most remote areas, women receive timely, dignified, and comprehensive care.

Breaking Barriers for Women’s Health

Access to safe, affordable, and reliable healthcare remains one of the greatest challenges for women in rural Bangladesh. Many women are forced to depend on untrained providers or harmful self-medication because professional doctors are physically or financially out of reach. Social stigma, lack of transport, and the burden of household responsibilities only deepen these barriers.

The Shukhee Seba Kendro (SSK), introduced by Grameen Healthtech Limited, is changing this reality. Built on a hybrid healthcare model, SSK transforms local pharmacies into digital primary health centers where patients can connect with BMDC-certified doctors for only 20 Bangladeshi taka (0.16 USD). Through this system, women in the remotest villages can access care that is affordable, reliable, and delivered with dignity.

Shahida’s Story: From Unsafe Practices to Safe Care

Shahida (name changed for privacy), a 76-year-old woman from Ukhia, Cox’s Bazar, had been struggling with low back pain and moderate anemia for months. With no MBBS doctor nearby, she relied on unsafe practices—purchasing medications without prescriptions and even receiving injectable iron and sucrose preparations without medical guidance. These interventions not only placed her at risk but also highlighted the systemic barriers faced by rural women in accessing safe care. Her turning point came when she visited her local pharmacy, which had been upgraded into a Shukhee Seba Kendro. The SSK ambassador, trained to guide patients, helped her book a teleconsultation with a Shukhee doctor for just 20 Taka. Within minutes, Shahida was connected to a certified physician who carefully reviewed her condition, provided an e-prescription, and ordered basic lab tests to confirm the diagnosis. Importantly, she was counseled that no injectable medications or saline should be administered without direct physician approval.

For Shahida, this was more than treatment—it was reassurance that safe, evidence-based healthcare could be accessed without leaving her village. She expressed relief at not having to depend on unsafe alternatives and joy at finally being treated with dignity and professionalism.

From Fear to Hope: How Shukhee Saved a Mother and her Baby in Rangpur:

In July 2025, at Ma Pharmacy, Chartola Mor, Rangpur, Razia (name changed) was in desperate need of an urgent C-section. Her husband, torn between fear and confusion, didn’t know where to turn. Middlemen circled with false promises, and every delay felt like losing both mother and child. Then the  Grameen Healthtech Limited  stepped in via it’s Shukhee Platform. With compassion and speed, the SSK ambassador guided them through the Shukhee system, arranging a seamless referral to Doctors Community Hospital (Pvt.) Ltd., Rangpur. Within minutes, the hospital team prepared everything, and soon after, Prof. Dr. Anisa Begum and her surgical team delivered a healthy baby. What began as a moment of despair transformed into joy and relief—showing how Shukhee’s ecosystem protects mothers, restores trust, and brings life-saving care right to the community’s doorstep.

Affordable Consultation Telemedicine with MBBS (BMDC certified doctors ) for 20 Taka BDT(0.16 USD) Makes professional care accessible in remote areas
Community Ambassadors Local pharmacy owners assist patients with booking & care Builds trust and reduces stigma for women

By removing brokers and middlemen who often exploit patients, SSK also restores trust and transparency to the healthcare system.

A Vision for Healthcare Democracy

The Shukhee Seba Kendro is more than just a pharmacy upgrade—it represents a movement toward healthcare democracy in Bangladesh. Every woman, regardless of her age, income, or location, deserves safe and professional care. By combining telemedicine, digital records, community ambassadors, and referral pathways, SSK creates a 360-degree healthcare solution that is both scalable and sustainable. Looking ahead, Grameen Healthtech Limited envisions every SSK evolving into a fully digital primary healthcare center, reducing maternal mortality, improving women’s well-being, and strengthening community resilience. Psychologists, nutritionists, and physical therapists will play an increasing role in ensuring holistic care, addressing not just physical illness but also the social and emotional challenges faced by women in rural areas.

Shahida’s & Razia’s  story is a reminder of why this vision matters. For her, and thousands of women like her, SSK is not only a model of healthcare—it is a promise of dignity, safety, and equity.
