In Kenya, community engagement is a cornerstone of effective health promotion, particularly in the fight against cancer. In early November, to coincide with Lung Cancer Awareness Month, The QuickFix Learning Hub partnered with the AIESEC Club of the University of Nairobi and the Kenya National Blood Transfusion Service (KNBTS) to host a Lung Cancer Blood Drive at St. Paul’s Catholic Chapel in Nairobi. The event brought together youth, students, and community members in a shared effort to raise awareness and support patients in need of lifesaving blood.

The initiative drew over 150 donors, highlighting the power of youth-led mobilisation in strengthening public health outcomes. Complementing the blood donations, the Hub operated a First Aid Learning Station, providing hands-on demonstrations on emergency response and community health preparedness. By linking practical learning with cancer awareness, the initiative transformed concern into tangible action and highlighted the vital role of community engagement in health promotion.

Beyond the numbers, the campaign sparked discussions on lung cancer prevention, early detection, and lifestyle choices that influence long-term health. It reinforced a simple truth: awareness alone is not enough. Communities achieve resilience when knowledge is paired with action, and individuals are empowered to participate in solutions that save lives.
