As we keep on expanding our global network of ecosystems in the United States, we are very excited to welcome our 5th US Ecosystem to our network: the Global Health Innovators Nashville Ecosystem. To find out more about their work, read this chat with Eric Thraikill, Executive Director of Global Health Connector U.S. Operations.

Who are the key stakeholders?

The Nashville healthcare ecosystem brings together health care providers and services companies such as HCA Healthcare and Vanderbilt University Medical Center, along with universities, research institutions, startups, and growing businesses. Companies like Oracle Health and early-stage ventures supported through the Project Healthcare accelerator are part of the broader innovation community. Economic development and public-sector organizations help connect these groups, attract investment, and support company growth.

Together, these stakeholders create a collaborative environment that makes it easier for international companies to build relationships, explore partnerships, and grow in the U.S. market.

Some of our key stakeholders are:

  • Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce
  • Vanderbilt University Medical Center
  • Meharry Medical College
  • Belmont University – Thomas F. Frist School of Medicine
  • Frist Cressey Ventures
  • HCA Healthcare
  • CHS
  • Lifepoint Health
  • Monogram Health
  • Surgery Partners
  • Acadia Health
  • AMSURG
  • Ardent Health Services

What are the main objectives of your ecosystem?

The Nashville ecosystem’s objectives include to establish Nashville as a domestic and international healthcare innovation hub, participate in global projects, host meaningful events, and enable solutions addressing rising cost of care, aging populations, and critical workforce shortages.

We also aim to support international companies exploring the U.S. market by providing a welcoming entry point and connections to partners across health care, research, and industry. The ecosystem helps companies build relationships, explore pilot opportunities, and form partnerships with local and national organizations, while gaining a better understanding of the U.S. healthcare environment. By bringing together providers, universities, startups, and business leaders, Nashville focuses on attracting investment, supporting company growth, and strengthening international collaboration in health and life sciences.

Why do you want to join the Global Health Connector Network of Ecosystems?

Our interest in deepening our engagement with the Global Health Connector is rooted in relationships and shared experiences that have shaped our work. Through our participation in GHC partner programs at HLTH Europe, HLTH, and ViVE, we have seen the value of bringing ecosystems together around a common purpose. We are inspired by GHC’s focus on the intersection of economy, finance, health, and science, and by its commitment to improving health and wellness around the world. By engaging more deeply with the GHC network, we aim to contribute Nashville’s deep health care expertise while helping innovative companies access the partnerships and resources needed to create meaningful impact worldwide.

We want to position Nashville as the U.S. hub of the organisation and continue to build relationships abroad.

Which ecosystems are you looking to collaborate with?

We are interested in collaborating with health and life sciences ecosystems that share a focus on real-world care delivery, digital health, and scaling innovation across complex health systems. This includes ecosystems across the United Kingdom, Ireland, and other European markets, particularly those closely connected to public health systems and applied research, as well as ecosystems in Canada, Japan, Singapore, and the US.
