Healthy aging does not begin at 55. It begins much earlier, with the daily choices, routines, and environments that shape how we move, recover, and stay connected throughout life.

That is the thinking behind FitSphere, a movement motivation platform built to help people become more active in a way that feels playful, social, and achievable. FitSphere is a member of our Estonian Tehnopol HealthTech Ecosystem. Their goal is not to be another sports app for people who are already highly active. They focus on the people who need the first push, the first spark, and the first positive experience that helps movement become part of everyday life.

At FitSphere, they work across the full life course. They create activity challenges and campaigns for different age groups and communities, because healthy ageing is not a single intervention at a later stage of life. It is a long-term process that starts in childhood, continues through education and working life, and remains just as important in older age.

Their work includes school campaigns that engage children and young people in daily movement from an early age. More than 50% of all educational institutions in Estonia use the FitSphere app to motivate their students and staff to be more active. They also run UniSteps, a Europe-wide inter-university step challenge that brings students together through friendly competition and shared goals. For the first time, this campaign launched on April 1, bringing together more than 30 universities from across Europe to compete against each other. For workplaces, they design staff activity challenges that support employee wellbeing, team spirit, and healthier routines during the working day. For municipalities, they create community-wide challenges that encourage residents to move more and take part together. FitSphere was also the official movement app for Tallinn European Capital of Sport 2025, helping connect a wider public to active living through digital participation.

An important part of their work is aimed at older adults. Through ESF+ (European Social Fund Plus), they support the 55+ age group with movement challenges and digital exercise content that make participation more accessible, practical, and motivating. In rural areas especially, digital formats can help overcome distance, limited access to services, and lower participation in organised activities. When designed well, they can strengthen not only physical activity but also confidence, routine, and social inclusion.

This is where FitSphere sees a strong connection to healthy ageing in rural areas. Too often, physical activity is framed as something demanding, time-consuming, or reserved for a specific type of person. They believe the opposite. Movement should feel inviting. It should be simple to join, rewarding to continue, and engaging enough to become part of everyday life. A short walk, a step challenge, a shared team goal, or a daily exercise routine can all become building blocks for better long-term health.

Their broader ambition is clear: they want FitSphere to become the most widely used solution for motivating people to move. They are building a platform for participation, not performance. The real value is in helping inactive or less active people take the first step and then another.

Until now, FitSphere has been mainly focused on Estonia, but they are now expanding more actively beyond their home market. From 1 May, they are launching our core business in Latvia. At the same time, their services are already being used internationally, from municipalities in Malta and the Netherlands to workplace activity challenges all around the world. This growing international reach confirms something important: the need for motivating, accessible, and community-based movement solutions is universal.

Their message is simple. Physical activity does not have to feel boring. It can be playful, exciting, and social. When movement is designed this way, healthy ageing becomes more than a health objective. It becomes a shared experience that people can enjoy throughout life.

That is the future we want to help build: one where people stay active longer, feel better in their daily lives, and enter older age with more strength, energy, and confidence because movement became part of their story early on.
