Hundreds marched through the streets of Jalingo, Nigeria, in solidarity during the Taraba Pinktober Townhall and Mega Rally, celebrating survivors and promoting early detection of breast cancer. The event fostered collaboration among medical experts, advocates, and community leaders to strengthen breast cancer management and support systems.

The recently concluded Taraba Pinktober Townhall and Mega Rally in Jalingo, Nigeria, was a resounding success. The event brought together breast cancer survivors, healthcare professionals, and community leaders to raise awareness about breast cancer, promote early detection, highlight the importance of Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) management, and discuss strategies for strengthening MDT collaboration to achieve better outcomes.

The event was co-hosted by The Cancer Consciousness Initiative (CCI) (the mother NGO of The TeleOncology Hub) alongside the Nigerian Cancer Society, Federal Medical Centre Jalingo, Taraba State Specialist Hospital Jalingo, Federal University Teaching Hospital Wukari, National Orthopedic Hospital Jalingo, and the Fhamas Cancer Foundation.

The high-level advocacy Town Hall meeting featured engaging discussions, including the announcement of FMC Jalingo’s inclusion in the National Chemotherapy Access Program (NCAP) and the Nigerian Cancer Health Fund (NCHF). Stakeholders in the cancer space delivered goodwill messages, while participants benefited from breast cancer awareness talks and screenings, and inspiring testimonies of survival and resilience.

Keynote speakers shared valuable insights on breast cancer prevention, the evolution and practice of MDT management, treatment options, and the importance of support systems in the cancer care journey.

The highlight of the event was the Mega Rally, held on Saturday, 25th October 2025, where hundreds of participants marched through the streets of Jalingo in different shades of pink. They carried signs and banners with messages of hope and awareness, creating a powerful display of solidarity and collective commitment to fighting breast cancer.
