Primary Healthcare

In many communities across Bangladesh, primary healthcare is not missing—it arrives too late. For a mother navigating a high-risk pregnancy, or a middle-aged worker living with undiagnosed hypertension or vision loss, delays in screening often determine whether care is preventive or crisis-driven. These delays are rarely due to medical complexity; they are rooted in gaps of access, continuity, and connectivity.

At Shukhee, digital health is not treated as an innovation layer—it is built as healthcare infrastructure. Through the Remote Monitoring 6-in-1 Device and the MITAS Device, Shukhee is redefining how primary care reaches people, with a strong focus on NCD screening, maternal health, and early eye disease detection, enabled by 5G and private healthcare networks.

Human-Centered Devices for Preventive Care

Non-communicable diseases account for over 70% of global deaths, with hypertension, diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases rising rapidly in low- and middle-income countries. In Bangladesh, nearly 25% of adults live with hypertension, and a large proportion remain undiagnosed. Alongside this, preventable vision loss from cataract, diabetic retinopathy, and glaucoma continues to affect millions due to late detection—particularly among people with diabetes.

Shukhee’s Remote Monitoring 6-in-1 Device enables community-level screening of blood pressure, blood glucose, oxygen saturation, heart rate, body temperature, and ECG—bringing essential diagnostics closer to people’s homes. The MITAS Device complements this by supporting international-standard eye screening, enabling early identification of cataract, diabetic retinopathy, and glaucoma—conditions where early detection can prevent irreversible blindness.

These devices are built to function beyond hospital settings—integrated into the Clinical & Social Prescribing System via Link Workers, pharmacies transformed into Shukhee Seba Kendros (SSK) by SSK Ambassadors, outreach initiatives, and home visits—seamlessly connecting patients to physicians through Shukhee’s unified digital platform

Connectivity That Turns Data into Action

The real strength of remote monitoring lies not only in devices, but in connectivity. Supported by 5G and private healthcare networks, Shukhee enables real-time transmission of clinical data, secure digital records, and instant clinical decision support by following ICD-11.

For NCD care, this allows early risk identification, automated follow-ups, lifestyle counseling, and medication adherence tracking—before complications arise. For maternal health, continuous monitoring of blood pressure and oxygen saturation helps detect early signs of preeclampsia and other pregnancy-related risks. For eye care, MITAS-enabled screening data supports a structured digital referral system, ensuring patients are linked early to ophthalmologists and treatment facilities without unnecessary delays.

Impact and Outcomes

Early implementation outcomes demonstrate tangible system-level benefits. Community-based screening has reduced diagnostic delays, improved follow-up compliance, and strengthened referral efficiency for NCDs, maternal health, and eye care. Patients screened through MITAS for diabetic retinopathy and glaucoma are being referred earlier—before vision loss becomes permanent. Health workers report greater confidence using standardized tools, while patients express reassurance knowing their health is monitored continuously, not episodically. Most importantly, care is shifting from late-stage intervention to early prevention.

Building Resilient Primary Healthcare

Primary healthcare is the backbone of resilient health systems. By combining international-standard devices, digital platforms, and next-generation connectivity, Shukhee is reinforcing this backbone—making care more proactive, equitable, and data-driven. Digital health cannot replace human care—but when technology listens, connects, and responds, it amplifies compassion. Shukhee’s mission is simple yet transformative: deliver care early, guide timely action, and ensure no one is left behind—whether managing chronic disease, pregnancy, or the gift of sight.
