We are proud to launch our Danish Presidency Connector, a comprehensive overview of our Danish community marking the conclusion of the Danish EU Presidency.
We are pleased to launch the Danish Presidency Connector, a deep dive into the Danish community within the Global Health Connector network, developed during the Danish Presidency of the Council of the European Union. The Connector offers a clear window into Denmark’s role within our network and provides an opportunity to explore the people, ecosystems, and partnerships shaping health innovation across the country.

Inside the document, readers will find an overview of the achievements and ambitions of Denmark’s two ecosystems — South Denmark and Copenhagen, alongside the champions, members, and EU project partners that contribute to their strength. The Danish Presidency Connector also highlights how collaboration across regions, sectors, and borders supports innovation at both national and international levels.
As the Danish EU Presidency draws to a close, it is an opportunity to reflect on Denmark’s sustained and growing contribution to the Global Health Connector network — a contribution defined by collaboration, innovation, and a strong commitment to health system transformation across Europe and beyond.
For many years, Denmark’s engagement within the network has been anchored by a highly mature and trusted ecosystem in the Region of Southern Denmark. This ecosystem has consistently played an active role in Global Health Connector programmes, Thematic Innovation Ecosystems, Summits, and multi-ecosystem events. Its leadership in areas such as digital health, skills development, mental health, prevention, and large-scale EU projects has positioned Southern Denmark as a reference point for mission-driven regional innovation.
Built on strong public-sector leadership and close collaboration between hospitals, municipalities, academia, industry, and civil society, the South Denmark eHealth Ecosystem demonstrates how coordinated regional action can deliver sustainable impact. Flagship initiatives such as the Digital Health Centre and leadership roles in major EU Joint Actions, including PreventNCD, show Denmark’s ability to translate strategy into scalable European collaboration.
More recently, Denmark’s presence within the Global Health Connector network has been further strengthened through the addition of a second ecosystem centred on Copenhagen. With a strong company-driven and cluster-based approach, the Health Tech Hub Copenhagen Ecosystem brings a complementary perspective focused on adoption, scale-up, and international market access. Since joining the network, this ecosystem has already leveraged Global Health Connector connections for global engagement, including collaboration with Canada and other international partners.
Together, these two ecosystems reflect the strength of Denmark’s health innovation model: combining public-sector leadership, applied research excellence, patient involvement, and a fast-growing life science and health tech industry. Denmark’s contributions span digital health, AI, robotics, prevention, sustainability, regulatory pathways, and patient-centred innovation — reinforcing its role as a reliable partner in shaping resilient and inclusive health systems.
Beyond its ecosystems, Denmark’s impact within the Global Health Connector network is reinforced by a diverse group of national and regional partners, including clusters, universities, patient organisations, and innovation hubs. These stakeholders play a vital role in enabling collaboration, knowledge exchange, and real-world project delivery across Denmark and internationally.
As the Danish EU Presidency concludes, the Danish Presidency Connector captures a moment of collective progress and shared ambition. It reflects a community that is well positioned to continue building international partnerships, supporting EU priorities, and contributing practical solutions to global health challenges.
