Breast cancer awareness shukhee

Shukhee, the pioneering e-health platform of Grameen HealthTech Limited (GHL), is transforming the landscape of women’s cancer awareness and early detection in Bangladesh. Through its integrated digital services, dedicated physicians, and accessible teleconsultation pathways, Shukhee brings breast cancer education, risk assessment, and preventive care directly to women—whether in urban centers or remote villages. By combining technology with compassion, Shukhee empowers women to overcome stigma, recognize early warning signs, and seek timely guidance. With a vision to introduce digital cancer screening through the Shukhee App, the platform is driving a future where early detection becomes a norm, lives are saved, and no woman is left behind.

Driving Early Detection: How Shukhee is Shaping the Future of Breast Cancer Awareness

Every October, the world lights up in pink to honor Breast Cancer Awareness Month—an international call to action urging societies to prioritize early detection, prevention, and women’s health equity. In Bangladesh, where 13,000 women are diagnosed and nearly 7,000 die from breast cancer each year, the message is clear: awareness is no longer optional; it is a lifeline. This year, Grameen HealthTech Limited (GHL) and its flagship digital health platform, Shukhee, transformed this global movement into a powerful local campaign, blending technology, compassion, and community engagement to reach women across the country.

A Month of Impact: Awareness That Moves Beyond the Screen

Throughout October, Shukhee activated both online and on-site platforms to spread life-saving messages. Awareness sessions, Q&A discussions, storytelling, and health education were conducted across the Shukhee ecosystem—ensuring that every woman, from urban professionals to rural homemakers, had access to trusted information.

One of the most inspiring contributions came from the Shukhee team itself. Employees produced a short, heartfelt documentary addressing stigma, early signs, and myths around breast cancer. Shared across social media, it captured attention, sparked conversation, and extended the campaign’s reach far beyond Grameen Telecom Bhaban.

To support concerned women, Shukhee also introduced specialized breast cancer consultation packages, connecting users with dedicated doctors through its fully integrated telehealth platform. Women could privately discuss symptoms, fears, and misconceptions—often for the first time in their lives.

Pink Day: A Celebration of Strength and Solidarity

Shukhee’s vibrant Pink Day brought together colleagues, communities, and global health leaders in a united stand for early breast cancer detection. The event featured insightful discussions led by renowned experts, including Professor Dr. Halida Hanum Akhter, International Public Health Specialist and Senior Faculty at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health & the Centre for Cancer Care Foundation (CCCF), who highlighted how early screening significantly improves survival outcomes.

Dr. Abu Jamil Faisel, Public Health Expert and Executive Committee Member, emphasised the importance of healthy lifestyle choices, nutrition, and avoiding tobacco in reducing cancer risk.

Professor Dr. Shahnaz Chowdhury, Head of the Department of Community Medicine at Bangladesh University of Health Sciences, stressed the need for stronger community-based awareness and culturally sensitive education to break stigma and improve screening uptake.

The session was moderated by Dr. Hossain Al-Amin, Clinical Manager at Grameen HealthTech Limited, who connected early detection with the power of digital health access. The programme concluded with inspiring remarks from Dr. Ahmed Armaan Siddiqui, Chief Executive Officer of Grameen HealthTech Limited, reaffirming the organization’s commitment to scale preventive care for women across Bangladesh.

A Vision for the Future: Digital Cancer Screening Through the Shukhee App

One of the most promising announcements from the programme was Shukhee’s vision to integrate cancer screening pathways directly into the Shukhee App. This innovative step aims to bridge the gap between underserved women and life-saving screening services. Through this model:

  • Women can connect 24/7 with trained physicians
  • Symptoms can be assessed through evidence-based digital protocols
  • Early screening recommendations can be generated
  • Users can be guided to the nearest partner facility for further diagnostics

By leveraging telemedicine and artificial intelligence–driven triage, Shukhee seeks to make early detection possible even for women living in remote rural areas, where traditional healthcare access remains limited.

This initiative aligns with Shukhee’s broader health philosophy:
Primordial and preventive care over reactive treatment.
Shukhee believes that investing in screening today means reducing the burden of advanced cancer tomorrow. More screenings lead to more early diagnoses—and early diagnoses save lives.

A Future Where No Woman Is Left Behind

Breast cancer doesn’t have to be a death sentence. With early diagnosis, awareness, and accessible care, lives can be saved. Shukhee’s October campaign is more than an annual observance—it is the beginning of a long-term movement to ensure every woman in Bangladesh has the knowledge, confidence, and resources to protect herself.

By merging technology, community, and compassion, Shukhee is championing a future where early detection becomes the norm and where every woman—urban or rural, young or old—has access to life-saving information and support.

This is Shukhee’s Pink Revolution. And it has only just begun.
