Scope and objectives
By adopting the acronym CURTAIN, the project highlights the persistent cancer inequalities between Eastern and Western Europe, which are visible today through the lens of the former Iron Curtain.
CURTAIN’s mission is to build a Europe where everyone has the knowledge, tools, and opportunities to prevent and manage cancer effectively, regardless of who they are or where they live. By strengthening cancer literacy among citizens, health professionals, policymakers, researchers, and businesses, CURTAIN fosters collaboration across sectors to close the gap in cancer prevention, diagnosis, care, and survivorship.
Our role
In the project, Global Health Connector is leading the WP7 on Raising Awareness and Ensuring Sustainable Communication in Cancer Literacy. This working group aims to strengthen communication, collaboration, and capacity building around cancer literacy. This includes establishing effective communication strategies and creating synergies with related initiatives. It also focuses on partner capacity building, connecting with EU networks to broaden impact, and developing a sustainability plan to ensure long-term integration of cancer literacy into health policies and practices.
Consortium
The project brings together a consortium of 15 partners from 9 countries (6 EU: Belgium, Bulgaria, Ireland, Italy, Portugal, Romania and 3 non-EU: Moldova, Montenegro, Ukraine.) The consortium represents a diverse group of stakeholders: national health institutes, consultancies, universities, NGOs, medical centers, associations.
